This randomness can be fine in normal mode where it spices it up, but again it's poorly balanced for hard mode where your party can be wiped because of it. And then enemies can start pepping and do pep attacks, which is happening more often for them than it is for me. Random fights can start with you being "surprised" despite getting a pre-emptive strike so you can't attack. Their defence shouldn't have been increased as much as it was. It seems to be a flat 20% increase on all enemy stats, which is particularly damaging for normal fights which last too long because their defence and HP seem to be much higher too. Secondly, the way it's balanced doesn't make much sense. This got better once I could deposit money at least. This may be fine in normal where you won't die unless you screw up a lot, but for hard it feels too punishing.
